Over 30 years and counting...

OUR HISTORY

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

Like most good things, our church began in a humble way. Now going on 33 years strong, we look back and thank God for blessing us in so many ways, for the people we now call family, and for allowing us to continue to shine His light in our precious community.

In 1988, a group of high school students attending a Bible study in Mililani decided to start a church in the community.  They called themselves "Hope Central Mililani," and asked Pastor Jeff MacKay, the  youth pastor at Hope Chapel Kaneohe at the time, to be their pastor.

In October of that same year, they began holding services on Sunday evenings in the cafeteria at Kipapa Elementary School.  The church  rapidly grew from its original thirty members and after only three weeks, a Sunday morning service was added to accommodate the surge in attendance.  The church location changed a few times over the coming years, and its congregation grew and flourished.

In 1998, God moved Pastor Jeff’s heart to plant a new church in Osaka, Japan. It was a bittersweet moment saying goodbye to their founding pastor but the church looked forward to a new season of change and growth.

In 2003, Pastor Tim Greseth was inspired to create a new beginning for the church. With a vision of reaching beyond the community of Mililani, the church celebrated its 15th Anniversary and re-grand opening as "Hope Chapel Mililani."

From humble beginnings, God has blessed and grown our church. This year marks our 32nd anniversary of shining God's light in Mililani and beyond.
